Welcome to Lough Derg F.C

Founded in January 2002, the club joined the North Tipperary Schoolboy League (affiallted to the SFAI), when two teams were entered in the u10 and u12 ntsl knockout cup in the spring of 2002. The club then entered teams into the league divisional play proper with teams at u10 and u12 divisions in the September '02 to April '03 Season. Starting off back then, the club numbering (approx 50 kids and adults) trained in a field across from the Lakeside Hotel and Galloping Hogans.

We have grown in membership hugely over the past few years and we now have members from the Ballina and Killaloe area as well as outlying areas of Bridgetown, Ogonolloe, Scariff, Tuamgraney, Birdhill and Burgess. A truly cross community spirit and ethos has been built up in the club as we have expanded of which we can all be very proud.

Our home league and cup matches are played at Bennys Field, Bothar Rd, Ballina, where we have an u10 pitch and a second larger pitch for u11 to u16 games. Due to large schedule of home league and cup games played, it is our club policy that training doesn't take place on the playing pitches.

The NTSL league divisions are organised currently at u10, u11, u12, u13, u14, u15 and u16 age groups, with girls allowed to play to u13 age level on club league registered teams. In the 2009/10 season LDFC has girls on league resgistered teams at u10, u11 and u13 age levels. In this 2009/10 season overall we have 4 teams entered at u10, 2 x u11, 1 x u12, 2 x u13 and 1 x u16 level, while the improver academy for u6 and u8 (both mixed) will continue to develop our young players for league team play later on.

Due to our ever growing membership (the 08/09 season saw LDFC enter 11 teams in the NTSL) and due to a lack of training facilities, 7 of our 10 league teams this 09/10 season train at Scariff GAA all-weather pitch, making a 30 mile round trip weekly! 3 of teams train at Clarisford, Killaloe on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings at the kind invitation of our sporting colleagues in the local Ballina Killaloe Rugby club.

Our improver academy for u6 and u8 boys and girls is on Saturdays from 10am to 11.15am typically from October to April, at St Annes Community College, Killaloe. We are very grateful to Prinicipal John Fitzgibbon for the continuing use of the facilities over the past number of seasons.

PLEASE SEE ''about club'' page and ''academy'' page for further details.

The club is indebited to its many volunteer coaches, parents and committee members who give their time every week and considering the travel required to train and play we are proud of where we are. Well done especially to all of our playes numbering approx 200 from u6 to the u16 ranks, who turn out week on week, despite the sometimes inclement Irish weather. They should be very proud of the great effort put in! Our huge increase year on year in membership now means that we are one of the largest clubs in the NTSL league.

It is our hope to over the next few years to get a permanent home in the area, especially for training purposes thus reducing the need to travel outside of the area by large number of teams to train on a weekly basis during the September thru' May season. A number of initiatives have been considered and indeed worked upon over the past few years but have not yielded a result as yet for the club and its members.

The AGM is usually in May and it is expected to hold our trials for all 10/11 league teams before end of May 2010 for the September 2010 start of 10/11 league season. Indeed, the AGM for this year was hled on Thurs May 26th 2010 at the Lakesdie Hotel from 9 to 10pm at which a new committee was elected (contact details on abot club page of this website). The AGM was preceeded by an end of year presentation of medals, trophies, and coaches awards.

This new website  up and running 1st week February 2010 and will be updated constantly.

We have set up a link to NTSL results and league divisonal tables will typically be updated on Mondays after weekend league and cup game action. Feedback is always welcome - either use the ''contact us'' page or let any one of our committee members know by using contact info as listed on our '''About Club'' page.
