Welcome to Lough Derg F.C
Founded in Jan '02, with members from both Tipperary and Clare sides of the bridge adjoining Ballina and Killaloe, LDFC joined the North Tipperary Schoolboy League, when 2 teams were entered into u10 & u12 NTSL cups. Then entered League play proper at u10 & u12 divisions in Sept '02. Home matches are played at Bennys Field, Bothar Rd, Ballina, u10 pitch x 1 and x 1 larger pitch for u11 to u18s. The improver academy, for u6 & u8s (mixed) is on Saturdays (weather permitting) Oct-April, at Clarisford, Killaloe.
To cater for our playing and training needs both now and in the future, we have teamed up with the local rugby club and other community organisations and hope to get planning permission for playing and training grass pitches, an all-weather pitch and clubhouse facilities for a broad range of users from the community at large to use as part of a community initiative, at Clarisford, Killaloe. The club was recognised by the FAI in July '11 with a grant of 5,000 euros towards the soccer clubs future facilities development when John Delaney FAI CEO visited, with former Irish stars Ray Houghton & John Aldridge, to be briefed on the plan.

The club is indebited to its many volunteer coaches, parents and committee members who give their time every week and considering the travel required to train and play we are proud of where we are and what has been achieved. Well done especially to all of our players (numbering approx 200 in any given season over the past few years) from u6 to the u18 ranks, who turn out, week-in, week-out, despite the sometimes inclement Irish weather. All should be very proud of the great effort put in! Our huge increase year-on-year in membership now means that we are one of the largest clubs in the NTSFL; notable on the field expansion continues as an u18 Youth team was entered for the first time in the NT&DL for the 2011/12 season.
Indeed a club record of 11 teams from u10 to u16 were entered into the NTSFL in 2009 which has shown to all that there is huge demand locally for ''.... the beautiful game ...''. Lough Derg FC continues to be one of NTSFL's largest clubs as contributed by annual player and team registration fees.
Lough Derg FC has grown in membership hugely over the years and have members from the Ballina and Killaloe area and many outlying areas. A truly cross community spirit and ethos has been built in the club as we've expanded of which all can be very proud.
The club has indeed come a long way since we were founded in Jan 2002 when our membership numbering about 50 kids and adults first trained at McKeoghs Field accross from the Lakeside Hotel and Flanagans (Galloping Hogans as it was known as then).
Subsequently younger academy players and u10s/12s trained at St Annes Community College, Killaloe, for many years on weekend mornings. The School's Management must be thanked most sincerely for their assistance in helping us to grow the club by providing the use of their facilities.
Very supportive too, in these, the clubs formative years has been Ballina's Benny 0'Grady who has allowed us to play our league and cup games on his Bothar Road field for many years now. A truly community minded-man, it must be remembered that he co-founded the local rugby club with then local publician/shop keeper, Jack Hall, circa 1970/71.
The generosity of many local and regional companies who have given sponsorship and donations is also greatly appreciated.
The Club AGM is usually held at the end of May or in mid-June (prior to school holidays and at the end of playing season) at which a new committee is elected for the year ahead. The AGM is typically preceeded by an end-of-year presentation of medals, trophies, and club/coaches awards.
Each year new volunteers are always welcome to get involved in both on and off pitch club activities.
Feedback about any aspect of the club either ''on or off the pitch'' can be given (confidentially) by using the ''contact us'' link on this website. Committee members (or a relevant coach) may be contacted in any instance to, if required.
Committee contact and team coaches contact information is listed on the ''About Club'' page.
Last year a competition was held to find a suitable nickname for the club and then u11 player, Cian O'Brien's ''The Lakers'' was adjudged to be the winning entry. A recent quip overheard in a local shop '' .... as ye are the Lakers, ye should switch to waterpolo as each winter means weeks of cancelled grass soccer games .... ''''

The NTSFL previously listed website at www.league.ntsfl.ie is now inactive since Sept '11. The links to fixtures, results and tables on the main left hand side of the home page in the menu box on this Lough Derg FC website are inactive as a result.
As we celebrate the 10th aniversary of our founding in Jan 2012, we should all look forward to the next ten years and beyond!!
